BACK-SCRATCHING AND TOUCH

good touch is variety, ownership, intention, and observation.

The Lesson

Some people's touch is extraordinary, others you wish weren't touching you. The difference is technique. (1) Variety. Don't stay in one spot, work around. (2) Own it. Don't be tentative, touch like you own it. People can feel confidence through touch. (3) Intention. If your attention is elsewhere (phone in hand), they'll know immediately. Focus completely on their experience. (4) Observe. Like a hypnotist, watch for micro-changes: breathing shifts, slight movements, sounds of pleasure. Do more of what gets good reactions. Get close enough to observe. A-B test constantly. Recipients should give clear audio/visual feedback when something works. These techniques will change your relationships.

Real-World Example

A founder realizes their partner complains about their distracted back rubs. They put away the phone, get into a close position, and focus entirely on the experience. They notice their partner arches slightly when they scratch near the shoulder blade. So they do more there. They vary pressure and location. Within minutes, their partner is completely relaxed. Same activity, completely different result because of intention, observation, and variety.
