REPROGRAMMING YOUR FOOD PREFERENCES

preferences are not fixed. one week changes everything.

The Lesson

You probably think your food preferences are largely fixed. What you like today is what you'll like forever. This is very wrong. Through extensive self-experimentation, preferences can be changed at will. The technique is simply getting used to it. Example: after a lifetime of loving full-bodied coffee, switching to half coffee/half hot water seemed impossible. After one week, the diluted version became preferred. The same works for reducing sugar, salt, or acquiring tastes for healthy foods. Your preferences are programmable inputs, not fixed traits.

Real-World Example

A founder wants to cut sugar but 'loves' sweet coffee. They don't use willpower. They reprogram. Week 1: slightly less sugar. Week 2: half the sugar. Week 3: no sugar. By week 4, sweetened coffee tastes wrong. They didn't fight their preferences. They changed them. Same technique works for any food preference that's holding back their health.
