THE POWER OF ASKING
“everything you need to know, someone knows. find them. ask.”
The Lesson
When a mother contacted about her 10-year-old aspiring cartoonist son asking for advice, the response was: there's someone who knows how to navigate life. Everything you need to know to be successful, somebody already knows. You just have to find that person and ask them. It doesn't always work out perfectly, but this strategy almost guarantees success if you follow it consistently. Most people never ask. The ones who do get mentorship, shortcuts, and opportunities that others miss.
Real-World Example
A first-time founder is stuck on pricing strategy. They could read 50 blog posts and guess. Instead, they find three founders in adjacent spaces and ask directly: 'How did you figure out pricing?' Two ignore them. One responds with detailed advice that would have taken months to learn otherwise. The asking took 10 minutes. Not asking would have cost them months of trial and error.
