INCREASING LUCK

high energy places. talent stack. fake optimism. luck follows.

The Lesson

Luck isn't random. It's engineered. (1) Move from low-energy to high-energy environments. Scott left his small town for San Francisco; got a job offer on the flight. Energy = people, companies, opportunities. (2) Build a talent stack. Unique skill combinations create opportunities only you can see. (3) Add optimism. Even fake optimism works. Studies show optimists notice more opportunities because their brains are tuned to look for them. Like hearing your name in a crowded room, your brain filters for what you expect. Expect luck, and you'll notice it.

Real-World Example

A founder in a small city with few startups moves to a tech hub. First month: three intros that wouldn't have happened back home. They also learn sales + design + coding (talent stack). Every morning they write 'Something good will happen today.' They start noticing small opportunities they'd have missed while pessimistic. Luck didn't change. Their ability to see it did.
