TRAUMA AS SUPERPOWER
“trauma survivors know their limits. everyone else is guessing and afraid.”
The Lesson
Trauma gives you one superpower: you know what you can handle. You took a beating and survived. People without trauma think their breaking point is much lower than it actually is, so they stay timid and avoid risk. Your limit is 'fucking amazing' compared to what normal people think they can endure. This creates a 'free money zone'-the space between what ordinary people fear and what you know you can push through. Combat veterans often become unusually successful in business for this reason. The swamp you've already crossed makes every future swamp look smaller.
Real-World Example
A founder who survived family bankruptcy as a teen isn't afraid of startup failure. They've seen the worst. Losing the house, social humiliation, rebuilding from nothing. Their co-founder from a comfortable background panics at every setback. The trauma survivor says 'I've swum through this swamp before. This one's nothing.' They take calculated risks others won't. They push through discomfort others can't tolerate. Their trauma became their competitive advantage.
