PRACTICE ROOM SETUP
“zero friction. one button. you'll practice way more.”
The Lesson
To practice consistently, design your environment. Make the room pleasant so you actually want to spend time there. Remove all friction. No excuses not to practice. My guitar and drums are set up so I push one button and play. Tuner ready, practice sheet open, 10-15 second setup time. This causes me to practice way more because even five minutes between calls becomes useful. If setup takes three minutes for five minutes of practice, you won't do it. Zero friction equals maximum practice.
Real-World Example
A founder wants to learn Spanish but never practices. They redesign: phone app on home screen (one tap), headphones always charged and ready, five-minute lessons queued up. Now every elevator ride, every wait for coffee, every bathroom break becomes practice time. A year later: conversational Spanish, built in moments that used to be wasted.
